The problem¶

The PI planning says it fits. The team's capacity says something else – and you find out when the release date is already gone. Status reports arrive too late and describe the past.

A signal is only worth the action it triggers. Foreca3t shows you early, while you can still re-plan, cut scope or shift capacity.

How it works¶

Step 1 · Plan roughly

Block estimate on the Epic¶

Team, PI and a rough estimate are enough. The forecast for every release appears immediately.

Step 2 · Break down

No jump when Stories arrive¶

Open = MAX(estimate − done, open Stories) – scope that is not yet broken down stays covered. More scope than estimated moves the forecast at once.

Step 3 · Deliver

Forecast in real time¶

Every team works through its Epics in PI order at its own capacity. The forecast updates with every Story that is done.

The PI itself ends after the release date. Act: move the Epic to an earlier PI or the release date.

The PI fits, but capacity pushes the forecast past the release date. Act: cut scope or add capacity.

Open source, runs in your browser¶

The builder generates the views on your computer – nothing is uploaded, no account, no tracking. The generator is open source under the MIT license on GitHub and runs on the command line too.
